I am a patient of Mr Zia Carrim he said I needed injections in both eyes due to Wet Macula Degeneration I was terrified just thinking about this treatment and he assured me that I would be alright and I quickly got an appointment at Seacroft Hospital When I arrived I was quickly put at ease during my first treatment a nurse held my hand to reassure me ,the Dr explained everything he was going to do and I relaxed ,there was no pain what so ever ,the only discomfort I had was when it was done it was difficult being in the light but they explained next time to fetch sunglasses ,which I did . I am now due for my third treatment this month ,I have already noticed a small improvement in my sight . I cannot praise the cleanliness at this hospital and all the staff are wonderful from the receptionist to the nursing staff and doctors yours sincerely Mrs S Wells

I am very fortunate to have been having treatment under the care of Mr Carrim. I had seen other doctors but I was not getting speeds results. Mr Carrim suggested an Angiagram? the dye - which immediately pin pointed my problems after such a long time of worrying and waiting for a specific diagnosis. I had diabetic oedema and there was a lot of 'dead' matter at the back of the eyes which was restricting the oxygen getting through the retina. Zia arranged for scattered laser treatment prior to the monthly injections I am now having. The laser was painful but he explained in detail the reason for needing this and the benefit it could bring more quickly than have the injection alone. The results are amazing, my eyes are responding well and I have managed to continue working and keep some independence. Zia has involved me with the treatment, explaining the results of the scan and showing on the pc. He has asked me for suggestions to help him/others/ I suggested putting the anaesthetic drops in whilst the patient was tilted back rather than sat upright as they just seemed to fall out. They do this now. In addition, he has also turned off the lights as the glare can be uncomfortable. He has done everything possible to keep me settled and comfortable. I trust him completely, I have both eyes injected every 4 weeks and this week my scan pictures showed 'normal'. His enthusiasm and passion for his work is clearly evident, he lightens the mood and can see he even puts the nurses around him at ease. A true professional - Can we have more 'people# friendly physicians like this please. He neds bottling
